I know this is not really rock related, and is probably extremely lame for me to admit, but here goes. Country Music Television has this thing they call Crossroads where they get two artists and they do duets and share songs with each other, etc. Today I watched the one with Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie and believe it or not, it kinda kicked ass. I knew all of the songs and actually dug most of them. Not to mention, Kenny and Lionel harmonize great together. If you get a chance to catch this episode of Crossroads, check it out. You may enjoy it. Ok, now back to underground rock and hardcore metal. haha

Slayer made their first ever network television appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday, January 19. As usual, I forgot to watch it. Sounds like they played 6, yes 6 songs. A little mini-concert. They only broadcasted one song.

According to blabbermouth.net: Kerry went into a back alley and hung out with about 20 fans and took pictures and autographs. He was really nice and made sure to stick around long enough so that everyone could meet him and get his autograph. The rest of the band showed up around 5:15 and started doing their soundcheck and rehearsal shortly thereafter. It was also about that time that the line began to grow to a few hundred people. During soundcheck [the band] treated the fans to full versions of ‘Jihad’ and ‘Eyes of the Insane’ (each was played in full with vocals twice and and ‘Jihad’ was played all instrumental once). At around 6:15 they started letting us all in and it took about two hours to get the whole line in, which looped all the way to Hollywood Blvd. (about 5 blocks). There’s a lot more to the story at blabbermouth.net. Pretty interesting actually. I love the fact that Slayer is on network television, 12:30 at night, but hey it’s still ABC. Gotta give Kimmel some credit for having Slayer on his show. Awesome. read more »

I’m a major cartoon junky. I’m also a metal junky. That’s why I’m so into Metalocalypse. The music kicks butt. The animation is cool. And the show is just plain cool as hell. Metalocalypse is on adult swim on Sunday nights. It’s about a metal band called Dethklok. If you love metal, you’ll love this show. Another reason I like this show so much, is Brendan Small. read more »

Just watching some TV today, I heard a familiar song. But yet, it sounded bastardized and watered down. I turned my head towards the TV, I noticed it was a commercial. An American Express commercial. And they were using Spinal Tap’s Gimme Some Money as the background music. Ugh.
» Did Spinal Tap sign off on that? And it wasn’t even them it was some watered down sounding version. I love Christopher Guest and Spinal Tap, but this just made me sad.
