One of the bands I've been digging lately is Daft Punk. Such cool stuff. Love the techno, retro thing they have going on. I found this cool video of Daft Punk doing Harder Better Faster Stonger live. Check it out if you are into Daft Punk

Gojira is one of those really heavy bands that I am thankful that I stumbled upon. Check out this live footage of them performing The Heaviest Matter of the Universe. Very cool song. If you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and check out Gojira.

Here's a vintage video of Ziggy era David Bowie performing Starman live. I'm not sure what television show this is from. I think it's circa 73. I love the hair and the outfits. Plus the stage setup with everyone dancing behind them. Plus the drums and keys are in the front. Seems a little odd. Great footage, good quality and cool to see if you're a Ziggy fan.

One of the most legendary shows I ever saw was Fear in the 7th Street Entry. All original guys. Punk in it's most truest form. Those guys rule. I love Lee Ving. Check out this live video clip recordied in New Jersey in 1981. Songs include Beef Bologna, New York's Alright If You Like Saxophones and Let's Have A War. Killer. Legendary. I love the way everyone just moshes right on the stage.

One of my all time favorite CD's is Sonic Youth Dirty. Love it. If you don't have it in your collection, there's a problem. Pick it up. Here's one of the songs from that record performed live on Jools Holland. Sonic Youth Sugar Kane. Sweet.

Here's a classic Black Sabbath video from 1973. It's a video for the song Sabbath Bloody Sabbath from the album of the same title. Pretty cool stuff, didn't know they even made videos back in 73. Cool footage...great song. I've been on a huge Sabbath kick since the Heaven and Hell tour.

Being married, I sometimes have to watch crappy movies. This weekend we watched Devil Wears Prada and Employee of the Month. I didn’t mind staring at Jessica Simpson, but I thought Employee of the Month was pretty lame. I thought with Dane Cook, Andy Dick, Harlan Williams and the guy who played Pedro would be enough to keep me laughin, not so.
» Anyway, as lame as the movie was, there was one scene that I found interesting. It’s where Vince and wingman (pedro) break into the boxboy’s house. There are a few shots of a Melvins tour poster. It was shown very prominent a few times. At the bottom it had Trevor Dunn’s band listed as opening. I thought this was cool. Props for the Melvins. After 25 years they’re finally getting some recognition. This is the coolest Melvins video ever made! This song rocks my world. read more »

Back in the 80’s I was really into thrash and punk. One night, I was lucky enough to experience a blend of both styles of music, served up by a band called the Crumbsuckers. I still look back at this show with legendary memories. Awesome night!
» I still listen to the Crumbsuckers on a regular basis. I was just browsing the web and what did I see, that the Crumbsuckers are back together and are touring! I don’t know who exactly is in the band now, but man is this exciting. And even more exciting they are touring with the Accused. Wow! The bad news is, they are only touring in Europe. Let’s hope the Crumbsuckers and Accused stay together and do a US tour. Please guys! The Crumbsuckers will be playing the following tour dates in 2007: *All dates are in February of 2007 THE CRUMBSUCKERS + THE ACCUSED
THE CRUMBSUCKERS + THE ACCUSED + EXTREME NOISE TERROR + DRILLER KILLER
So all of us American’s are hoping the Crumbsuckers will visit our little country. Bring the Accused with you, please! read more »

My friend recently turned me on to a cool band…Between the Buried and Me. The CD is called Alaska. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
» I was blown away at first listen, which is really hard to do nowadays. I have not been this excited about a band since first hearing Dillinger Escape Plan, Mars Volta or Mr. Bungle. Between the Buried and Me are all over the board stylistically. They go from cookie monster death metal to dreamy sounding rock. The guy can actually sing. The riffs are not the usual metal riffs either. Very refreshing. The tempo is sometimes mindboggling. It almost sounds a bit like jazz metal to me. Almost as if it’s being improvised. I’ve only listened to the disc a few times, but I already love it. If you like your metal aggresssive at all, do yourself a favor and check out Between the Buried and Me’s Alaska disc. read more »

Yesterday I was driving home and Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville started playing on the ipod. It’s been so long since I listened to this record. It is great. Matter of fact it’s the only Liz Phair you’ll ever need. Don’t even bother with the others.
» Lately, she sounds like Britney or Jessica. Trying to cash in on the hit machine. But, not in the past…Exile sounds like some quirky, rough demos recorded on a four track sung by a beatiful, stoned out, matter-of-factly angel. The songs are finely crafted, great lyrics with incredible hooks. Not to mention it doesn’t hurt that she’s hot and sings bout being my “queen.” I love the falsetto. Exile in Guyville has a really great feel to the production and the sound of the guitar is very distinct. I remember how exciting it was the first time thru. You never new what was coming next. Not to mention it was on Matador, and at that time they were doing some really great stuff. Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville should be on any indie’s “must have” list. Start here first. read more »
