I'm not sure what is going on lately, but it seems that there is an abnormal amount of metal bands around with chick singers. I'm not sure what to think about this. I like a few of the bands, and now days some of the chicks sound like dudes. Here's a list of metal bands that have chick singers:

  • Arch Enemy
  • In this Moment
  • Lacuna Coil
  • Nightwish
  • Otep
  • Kittie
  • Tristania
  • Within Temptation
  • Straight Line Stitch
  • Flyleaf
  • Walls of Jericho
  • Bleeding Through
  • Made out of Babies
  • Echoes of Eternity
  • Stolen Babies
  • Holy Moses
  • After Forever
  • Nemesea
  • Epica
  • Theatre of Tragedy
  • Cadaveria
  • Deadlock
  • Masterlast
  • Beautiful Sin

What do you think? Should the chicks stay out of metal? Any other metal bands that have chick singers that need to be added to the list?

Ever wonder who all of those people were on the cover of Sgt. Peppers? I always did. I found this cool site where you can hover over each person and it tells you who they are. Pretty cool stuff. Even if you are not a hardcore Beatles fan, it's still interesting. Check it out here: http://www.beatlesmax.com/showme/beatles8.htm

I doubt anyone from apple or itunes will ever read this post on this tiny lil blog. This is just a way for me to rant and vent about their stuff.

  • Why can't they make a piece of software that will not slow my PC down and hog all of my memory?
  • Why can't I create playlists on the iPod as I'm listenting. Need a way to tag songs.
  • Why can't there be a way to setup variables. Such as, play only songs that have a play count = 0.

I think the iPod is an amazing thing, and it has changed the way I listen to music. However, there are some improvements that could be made to make it even better.

I found a cool site that has some awesome photos from First Avenue and Seventh Street Entry. It was really fun to look at these as I was at most of these shows. If you live in Minneapolis, check out this site. You'll dig it.

Lee Ving

So, I had to look into it and see what Lee Ving has been in. It's quite a lot more than I thought. Plus I found out he was born in Minneapolis. Pretty cool.

According to IMDB, this is Lee Vings appearances:  read more »

I always love it when I'm watching a movie and Lee Ving appears. Fear is one of my favorite bands, and Lee Ving has been in quite a few movies now. I was watching Fast Sofa yesterday, which has Jake Busey, Crispin Glover, Jennifer Tilly and Fear.

The scene is Crispin and Jake are in some crappy bowling alley. Crispin is bowling, Jake is hitting on a 16 year old, and Fear is playing I Love Living in the City.  They also play Rodeo. Pretty cool.  read more »

I am sickened to hear the news from yesterday’s shooting at Virginia Tech. The worst massacre in American history, 32 people shot dead. Horrible.

My heart goes out to all of the victim’s families. It’s really sad that people can take human life so easily. It really shows how messed up people are. I hope that this can be a reminder of how valuable life is. Live your life like it’s your last day…it might just be.

So I just got a brand new 80 gig iPod and I’m going thru loading songs on it. I noticed it alphabetizes everything using the ID3 tags. This is an issue for me because most of my stuff has messed up tags. Luckily iTunes has a way to edit these tags.  read more »

For me, I’m into thousands of bands in a ton of different genres, so it’s really hard to keep up with what’s happening. Here’s a few of the ways I stay on top of new releases.

Visit record stores. I like to spend my time browsing through the record stores. Lots of times they will have a new release section as well as a list of upcoming releases.  read more »

The State of the Radio Today

This is a rant:

I’m becoming so tired with the crap being played on the radio. It doesn’t matter what station I put on, they all have their “safe” bands that they play. Even the so called non-format alternative stations still play just a handful of stuff.

Why can’t there be a station that will play stuff that no one else does. I think they’d make a ton of money. I can’t believe that the public wants to be told what’s cool and then have to listen to it for the rest of their lives.  read more »

Waiting For Guffman is one of the best movies ever! I know it’s not really rock related, but it rawks! I guess it could be rock related Christopher Guest aka Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap is the genius behind it. His other claim to fame has been Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. All of which are mockumentaries.

Brilliant! Waiting for Guffman is the classic small town celebration musical that shows you the low level artsy performer’s inflated view of reality. That didn’t make much sense, but watch the movie anyway.

Christopher Guest plays Corky a homo, transvestite, broadway geek, tater tot-eatin, my dinner with Andre watchin, Judy Tenuta loving dork. But he has two classic lines “You’re all bastard people” and “I hate you and I hate your ass face.”

Not to mention there are the usual Guest crew like Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Parker Posey, Fred Willard, to name a few. Eugene Levy is awesome, as usual, in this movie. Gotta love Dr. Pearl. The songs are catchy and the choreography is…amazing.
Waiting For Guffman makes me laugh every single time I watch it. Check it out if you like good comedy…documentary style.

“I’m gonna go home and bite my pillow, that’s what I’m gonna do.”
