You know what I hate? Is when you go see a live performer who was previously in another legendary band, but they don’t acknowledge the old songs.

Like when I saw Danzig, he never played a Misfits song. Ryan Adams never does any Whiskeytown. I saw the Fire Theft and they never did any Sunny Day Real Estate. Sugar never did any Husker Du. Elliott Smith rarely did any Heatmiser. Foo Fighters should do some Nirvana. Why ignore your past? Great songwriting is great songwriting, no matter what band you were in.

On the other side of the coin there’s guys like Paul Westerberg, who know people are there to hear old Replacements songs. Or like that one time I saw Fantomas and they did a really cool version of Angel of Death.

Then there are bands like Rush who should just stick with the old stuff. Or bands who play all of their new album, and leave out the classics.

Fans pay to hear what they love, why not give it to them?
